Mitral Vale Disease (MVD) is the most prevalent health condition in Cavaliers. It is reported that approximately 50% of all Cavaliers will have a heart murmur by the time they reach 5-6 years of age. Therefore, heart testing is very important for this breed.

I am passionate about health testing, so passionate that I instigated and coordinated the first all Cavalier heart clinic here in Perth in 2005. In March 2006 I also coordinated the second all Cavalier heart clinic here in Perth. As I have a health sciences background, this makes me acutely aware of health issues and of the importance of ensuring that only healthy stock are bred from.

ALWAYS ask the breeder what health testing is done for their Cavaliers, and don't be afraid to ask.
